Birmingham Erdington MP Paulette Hamilton has paid tribute to her mother, Mary Ann Wilson, remembering her faith, determination and devotion to her family.

In a public social media thread posted on Thursday, 15 October 2026, Hamilton wrote: “Today, I say goodbye to my mommy, my Queen.”

The Labour MP said her mother died from pancreatic cancer on 10 September 2026 following a short illness.

Hamilton described Mrs Wilson as part of the Windrush generation, saying she arrived in the UK in the 1960s and built a life centred on her family. She had seven children: five girls and two boys.

The MP remembered her mother’s strength and religious faith, as well as the laughter, advice and support she had given throughout her life, from childhood to becoming a parent herself.

Hamilton also shared a memorial fundraising page, saying it would support research and earlier diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in her mother’s memory.

She said her mother’s love and legacy would live on in the family.

The memorial page shared by Hamilton is hosted by Pancreatic Cancer UK.
