Vybz Kartel set to kick off his first US tour in 20 years
Brooklyn, NY – The dancehall community is buzzing with excitement as Vybz Kartel, the legendary king of dancehall, embarks on his first US tour in over two decades. The tour, aptly named "Freedom and Fire," promises to be a celebration of Kartel's illustrious career and his enduring influence on the genre.
The tour kicks off at the iconic Barclays Center in Brooklyn in New York. This marks one Kartel's many upcoming concerts since his release from prison in July 2024, following the overturning of his murder conviction by the UK Privy Council. His first performance, held in Kingston, Jamaica, was a monumental event titled "Freedom Street," which drew massive crowds and celebrated his return to the stage after 13 years.
Kartel's recent appearance in the UK added to the excitement. He made a surprise performance at the 2025 MOBO Awards in Newcastle, joining Spice on stage for an explosive live set that left the audience in awe. This was his first performance in the UK since his release, and it created a historic moment for both dancehall and UK music.
The 'Wolrd Boss' as he is affectionately known is set to make a headline appearence at this year's St. Kitts Music Festival, along side stars such as Barrington Levy, Chronic Law, Jah Vinci, Dejour and Collin Wyatt among others. Vybz Kartel is also set to appear later this year at the UK's Iconic Wireless Festival.
