Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has gone down for thousands of users worldwide, with reports of widespread outages affecting both the website and mobile app.
According to Downdetector, the issue began shortly after 1 PM BST, with over 11,000 reports flooding in from frustrated users unable to access their feeds or post new content. Many encountered error messages stating, "Something went wrong. Try reloading."

Internet observatory Netblocks.org confirmed that the outage is not related to internet disruptions or filtering in any specific country, suggesting a technical failure within X’s infrastructure.
This marks the second major outage in just two days, raising concerns about the platform’s stability under Elon Musk’s ownership. The billionaire, who purchased Twitter in 2022 for $44 billion, has made sweeping changes to the company, including renaming it to X and cutting around 80% of its workforce.
While X has yet to issue an official statement on the outage, speculation is growing about whether the disruption is linked to a recent fire at a data centre in Oregon, where X reportedly leases space.
Users have taken to rival platforms like BlueSky and Threads to express frustration, with many blaming Musk’s leadership for the frequent technical issues.
As engineers scramble to restore service, the question remains: Is X becoming too unstable for its users?
