Washington, D.C. — What was meant to be a triumphant showcase of law-and-order policy turned into a viral spectacle Tuesday night, as President Donald Trump’s dinner outing at Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab was dramatically interrupted by pro-Palestine protesters.
"Free DC! Free Palestine! Trump is the Hitler of Our Time!" Trump is visibly pissed off & embarrassed as he's confronted by protesters while on his 'DC is safe' visit to eat at a restaurant. He's also booed outside the restaurant with 'F***K Trump" I love this for him & big up… pic.twitter.com/VE3DesHUwW

The president, flanked by top administration officials including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, had chosen the upscale restaurant just blocks from the White House to highlight what he claims is a “crime-free” capital following his controversial deployment of the National Guard and federalized police force.

But the optics quickly shifted.
As Trump entered the dining room, a small group of activists—identified as members of the anti-war group CodePink—rose from their seats and began chanting:
“Free D.C.! Free Palestine! Trump is the Hitler of our time!”
Footage circulating online shows Trump visibly agitated, gesturing for security to remove the protesters while Rubio and other cabinet members stood silently nearby. The demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and wore keffiyehs, calling out Trump’s foreign policy and domestic crackdowns. “He’s terrorizing communities in D.C. and Gaza,” one protester shouted as she was escorted out.
Outside the restaurant, the scene was no less charged. Trump was met with a mix of cheers and boos, with some diners chanting “U-S-A!” while others jeered the president’s presence.

Despite the disruption, Trump continued to tout his administration’s efforts. “We have a safe city,” he told reporters. “Enjoy yourselves—you won’t be mugged going home.”
Rubio, who has remained largely silent on the incident, was seen in the video standing beside Trump as the chants rang out. His presence has sparked speculation about the administration’s unified stance on both domestic security and Middle East policy.
The protest comes amid rising tensions over U.S. support for Israel’s military actions in Gaza and Trump’s aggressive federal interventions in Democratic-led cities. According to OpenTable data, restaurant reservations in D.C. have dropped by nearly a third since the crackdown began.
CodePink later posted on social media:
“Trump looked us in the eyes. We made sure he will never dine in peace while communities are under siege.”
Whether this moment marks a turning point in public resistance or simply another viral flashpoint remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: the streets—and dining rooms—of Washington are far from quiet.
