Rapper Tory Lanez Stabilised After Being Stabbed 14 Times in Prison

Canadian rapper Tory Lanez has been hospitalised after being stabbed 14 times by another inmate at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. Lanez, who is serving a 10-year sentence for shooting fellow musician Megan Thee Stallion, was attacked in a prison housing unit on Monday morning.

Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, suffered seven wounds to his back, four to his torso, two to the back of his head, and one to the left side of his face. His lungs collapsed, and he was initially placed on a breathing apparatus before being rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Despite the severity of his injuries, Lanez is now breathing on his own and is said to be in good spirits. His team released a statement confirming that he is talking normally and is deeply thankful for the support and prayers from fans.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the attack, but the motive remains unclear. Prison officials confirmed that staff responded immediately, providing medical aid before activating emergency services. 

Lanez was convicted in 2023 for assault with a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm, and negligent discharge of a gun following the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. He is eligible for parole in 2029.
