The federal jury in the high-profile criminal trial of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has reached a partial verdict, delivering decisions on four of the five charges brought against him — but remains deadlocked on the most serious count of racketeering conspiracy.
Presiding Judge Arun Subramanian addressed the court this evening, confirming that jurors have agreed on verdicts for the charges of sex trafficking and transportation for prostitution involving two named individuals, including R&B singer Cassie Ventura. However, the panel could not reach a unanimous decision on Count 1, the racketeering charge, which prosecutors say ties together a broader criminal enterprise involving coercion, violence, and abuse of power.
"This jury has reached firm verdicts on multiple counts," said Judge Subramanian, "but there remains division on the central racketeering allegation."
The Charges:
- Count 1: Racketeering conspiracy – Deadlocked
- Counts 2–5: Sex trafficking and transportation for the purpose of prostitution – Verdicts reached, outcome sealed pending full verdict
The judge, refusing to accept a partial decision, has ordered the jury to continue deliberating. The impasse has raised the possibility of a mistrial on the racketeering charge, though legal teams are hopeful a resolution will be reached.
The courtroom — packed with press, supporters, and critics — has remained tense as the verdict delay fuels speculation across social media. Outside, demonstrators waved signs reading “Justice for Cassie” and “Abuse of Power is Not Entertainment.”
If the deadlock holds, the court may accept the verdicts on the four lesser counts and declare a mistrial on the racketeering charge. Prosecutors would then need to decide whether to retry that count in a separate proceeding.
Diddy’s legal team declined immediate comment, though sources close to the defence indicated they were surprised by the jury’s progress so far. A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office said they remain confident in the strength of the racketeering case.
